For thousands of years, the crystalline tears of the Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia have been harvested only on the island of Chios — the sole place on Earth where this remarkable tree produces its aromatic resin.
The process has changed little since ancient times. The bark is carefully scored by hand, allowing the resin to slowly drip and harden under the Mediterranean sun. These “tears” are then collected and cleaned one by one, preserving their purity and character.
